I went to my little used lock-up yesterday and realised that I'd be better spending the money that I pay each money (£50pm / £600pa) on building a store shed in bottom corner of garden.
Lock-up is 8' x 16' so easy to visualise that a 8' x 8' shed would be plenty big enough. I should add this is in addition to a planned 8' x 10' workshop behind the garage.
Forgetting condensation at present as concentrating on the design of the basic structure which can then have insulation added to inside.
Haven't put "pen to paper" yet but am thinking of using box profiled steel sheets with 3mm folded galv for edges that will make up the store sides. 8' x 8' panels will be made that are bolted together and to base. Roof will be steel sheets in a low apex.
Concrete slabs will be laid and the base will be off the ground even if just a few inches.
For this base I'm considering using pre owned purlins with 3" angle iron for corner joints as purpose made cleats would work out expensive.
I know it'll be controversial but floor will be water resistant 22mm chipboard that the underside will receive a coating of gloss or bitumen paint.
The profiled sheet will probably come from here -

These are the purlins I'm considering -

How far apart do people think the base purlins should be ?
