Is there a marking gauge for metal?

Easy enough to make. Block of steel, drill a hole, push a rod though hole. Drill and tap a clamping screw into the side of the block. Drill a hole for a pointy thing etc . . .

I have a woodworking mortise gauge that has a screwclamp to take a pencil, blade or (in my case) a metal scribe.
