interesting video
Fascinating - I never tire of watching this type of film.
Reminds me of the time my Dad took me round a strip mill in Rotherham in the mid-seventies. Electric arc furnace, huge billets of white hot steel, intense noise, fumes etc.
Heaven knows how he managed to get me in there, let alone allow me to be shown the process from A to Z.
Better than any text book!
I started work in those places in the 70s....I think they based security on the premise that "why would anyone go there unless they were getting paid" and if they got hurt "its their own fault they shouldnt be there"
Enjoyable video but I can't shake the notion of how terribly inefficient those processes are. Although it could be an unpleasant way to look at things, but the majority of those people working, if not all; shouldn't have a job (probably don't now in the West). Those monotonous and or repetitive labour intensive jobs are ideal situation for automation and in more recent history computer controlled automation.
So much water being pumped, heavy loads being lifted and moved backwards and forwards over and over again; just seems like a huge waste of energy. I'd like to see a video of the latest technology doing the same job, see how today's standards compare.
