Hello, I'm beginning to weld up until next week I only have access to 0.8mm steel and it's almost impossible to weld with! A quick tack makes a crater, the steel becomes incredibly distorted even with a the start stop technique. On the up side I can make very strong consistent welds.
One of the things I want to do is a bit of body work on mainly classic cars so welding thin metal is a must. I'm currently trailing a Cebora Autostar 190 (min current 28A), I have no idea if A) this is normal on metal so thin, B) My welder is psyco/defective or C) I just suck? I've got until Monday to see weather I want the welder or not.
What thickness does steel become comfortable to weld with? (constant arc, no deformation)
