they do look like they would come in handy when polishing down welds in tight areas, but for the price you would have to need to polish a lot of tight welds to justify one.

I've bought one recently and used it quite a bit and am very impressed. I bought the 240V mains powered unit - I still can't get my head around battery powered angle grinders.....

The unit cost in Australia is not as much as it seems to be in the UK but they are still not cheap. Having said that they are not a huge amount more than the other German built Metabo grinders but obviously a lot more than the Chinese kit that has flooded the market.

The rounded edge flap wheels from Metabo are eye-wateringly expensive over here (around $65 each Australian) but I can get Pferd wheels from our local welding supply house for less than a quarter of that price when I buy in lots of 10+

The soft-start is a bit disconcerting at first but you get used to it in time. The balance of the tool is good and access to tight mitre joints is excellent. Given the extended nose I'm not sure that I'd want to use it one handed like I do with my other grinders though. The usual Metabo keyless wheel nut works well and I haven't had a wheel jam on the spindle yet.

I couldn't recommend it as a general purpose grinder due to the cost but if you have a need to get into tight corners then it fits the need well.
