measuring flourescent tubes

but has the psu gone full voltage and took out the led's ?
coz when they have gone here, all the leds seem not to work so just seem to go together which makes me think psu ?

That's a T8 tube.

Any 58W T8 will fit your unit.

so all the odd measurements whats that about ? odd conversions from feet to mm? been busting a nut searching for the exact one lol

(Another aside - the nomenclature "T8" etc. is an actual measurement, T stands for tube and the number refers to the diameter in multiples of 1/8" (T8 is 1", T12 is 1.5", T5 is 5/8" -- and T38 is 38mm...))

Like TIG ceramics - the number corresponds to how many 1/16".

hehe now there's a tedious link if ever there was one !!! that has to be a record --------fluorescent light tubes to su carbs !!
AH HA!!! DING!!!! CHOKES ---- that is why 8ft tubes wont start in the cold, because of the chokes, as su's dont have a choke only an enrichenment device, and it must flood the tube and kill the spark !!

Fluorescent tubes give a softer light than LEDs because the fluorescent is a more or less evenly lit source and is diffused to a greater extent by the luminaire or surrounding ceiling/walls. LED lighting seems cold and harsh by comparison. LED floodlights seem particularly "nasty".

only if u fit cool white led warm white is less harsh

Nothing like the voice of experience.

Supposedly they should be disposed of by a licensed facility.
Normally put the end in a doubled up rubble sack smash the end, poke more down into bag, smash again and repeat till all gone.

In this one, the 6 smds are in series.

Something happened to pop them all at once (rectifier failure? regulator failure? I measured then wrong?) and I'm curious what.

Just a thought, is your multimeter in diode test mode rather than resistance?

Meter registers open circuit in diode and resistance in both polarities (I like to poke at things many times).

Just another thought, are you measuring across all Leds as the voltage drop may be greater than the voltage the multimeter is putting out. Can you try across only a single led?

One is a bit awkward due to proximity, but a fine point probe just makes it I think.

Anyway, I know the meter can cope with at least 4 diodes in series, but metering across 2 (or best efforts on one) yields same results - i.e. nothing.
