I have just run 20m of this for my supply to the rear worshop, a couple of the fittings have a wee leak from the rear side should I tighten the plastic nut up a little more with some grips?
but don't leak?I normally use Jguest they are great but double the price
i can always take them off take the fittings back get new and re do itbut don't leak?
silly me thinking its just air it dont matter if it leaks how wrong was I!but don't leak?
I have literally hundreds of MDPE fittings around the farm used for both water and compressed air. Weeps are unheard of if they’re installed correctly and the pipe end hasn’t been scored.
Failures that I HAVE had:
A/ I cocked up the regulator setting on a hydrovane that I was installing, a ‘stop end’ on the air network blew off at about 160 psi with a very load bang, clearing a shelf of test gear! These stop ends are a harder plastic that the fitting can’t bite so easily.
B/SE Water replaced a 6” main that runs in our grounds, and the water hammer when they turned it on blew a fitting off a water trough 400 meters down the field. It also cracked the next length of 6” main resulting in more digging up of our lawn!
C/ Twice in heavy frosts a particular Tee joint has frozen and come apart. It’s in an exposed position
So in each and every inciden, and this spans about 15 years of use, it has been over pressure in one form or another that caused the failure.
