30 mile round trip to MazSpec to buy an oil filler cap..... and it doesn't fit, totally different thread. Which I would have known if I'd pulled the gaffer tape off that's sealing the filler neck before I went and bought it.....
Off to our local cafe for a few brews and some gossip, and there's some random scrap old engine of indeterminate make laying in the field behind it. I pinched the oil filler cap.
It fits the Mazda perfectly.
I'll take the incorrect cap back for a refund, which will nearly cover the cost of two 30 mile round trips on the bike, but I can't complain about an excuse to have a bike ride.
