This is my second post on the forum following my intro post, so hi to all.
I have recently ressurected my old Maypole 540 100 amp mig set. All appeared to be well and I did a few trial runs. As is the way not long after I started the actual job (bulkhead welding on my Land Rover) the machine started playing up. At first it started blowing fuses in the plug. When the fuse was replaced rapid on /off with the trigger saw the wire feed roller turning but holding the trigger on blew the fuse again. I've had the side off the set and tried the motor on a separate supply and that is ok. Now however there is no clicking from the relay on the wire feed circuit board when the trigger is pulled. Is it likely that the fault is on the circuit board? Is there a suitable replacement circuit board available ? Or should I abandon this old set and get my hand in my pocket for a modern set ?
Thanks for any advice.
