Maypole 120

I got me a Maypole 120 mig for £30 on the weekend. I already have a Aldi Stick and have been practising on that for a while.

The mig came with an out of date CO2 bottle and flux core wire. I tired so bead's on some thin metal, after reading and not fully understanding that it will still burn though thin metal gasless.

My question is this. The regulator that comes with mine just has a small black wheel and no gauge. Do I need a new one? and which gas. I have a BOC gas over the road and for the small 2lt bottle and a new reg I'm looking at about £80 quid. Can I get this from fleabay or should I fork out?

For an extra few pounds you would be better getting the Volkszone offer from BOC, 20ltr Argoshield light gas bottle.then buy a regulator from Weldequip (top right of our home page) or ebay.

Thank's the problem is which reg? there's some many. is there's a certain type I should be looking for?

The one you have sounds like the kind you use with those little disposable bottles. If you go for the Volkszone deal and get proper BOC cyclinders you will want something like this one.

Thank's I was just looking in to the volk deal, might have to run over the road and chat with the guy's over there see what they know I take it the reg will sit on the bottle then the reg on the may will fit in to the side of the bottle reg?

They probably won't have heard about the Volkszone deal at your local BOC place - If I recall, you set it up first and then go to your local place to get the gas. The regulator I pointed out fits on top of the bottle - normally you then just have a tube to the welder but you can put one of these between the regulator and the welder if you want.

Thanks dude One last question. In my workshop we have a extension that we keep ferret's in. These are safe. I know they will be ok I'm just don't want to offer worry lol
