mastic, glue or what ?

Was it here i read a post a week or two back that someone said something like this. That they had fixed on their cars wing with some sort of strong adhesive, and when it took a bump, the rivets broke but the adhesive still held ?

What sort of adhesive was it ?

There are a couple which I have used to good effect one is PU FLEX and the other is TIGER SEAL, they are both body adhesive/sealants

Metal bonding adhesives are quite common now in both car construction and repair - perhaps there's a car body repair specialist on here who can give some advice

I've been looking at Fusor 109B to fix some panels on a Land Rover rear tub though it still at the 'project' stage!

I used to drive a Foden 8 wheeler tipper, the rear axles had no springs just big solid rubber buffers (called elephants feet) between the top of axle and the chassis. The rubber was Glued to the steel fixing plates. The fixing plates formed a kinda V to keep them where they should be

The stuff that was talked of was Sikkaflex. but all the PU adhesive sealants are pretty alike. PARTCO down by the station should have some in, or Machine Mart do one.

Sikka are a great brand and do all sorts of adhesives and sealants. Don't thinke their cheap though.

As for the strength of these glues, Lotus have been gluing their car chassis together for years.

Some of the Sikaflex adhesives are veryyy sticky. Sika291 is one of the best.
