Massive paint error.. perhaps..

So we wanted to paint all the sides of the ramps in the skatepark black.. but black paint is really expensive it would seem.. but I am a genius and found this whilst I was in screwfix the other day

Lo and behold, I thought, this is black paint and it is well priced! So I bought a few tins and now all the ramps are nice and black!

BUT.. someones dad told us that as soon as it gets hot it's all going to turn into a thick black soup and go everywhere.. is this true? If it is I will cry come summer..

Your friend is correct.

It will stay semi set, and in hot weather it tends to soften and flow.

Great for waterproofing shed roofs, not great for painting stuff you need to touch.

Or ride/skate over.. ****ing hell. This is going to be a disaster. We have a massive Jam on Saturday.. gonna be about two hundred kids riding all over this mess. Is there anything that can be done about this? Anything we could perhaps put over it like some sort of hardener?

oh yes that stuff is gonna turn sticky, time to remove it before it gets on peoples clothes and they claim against the park

Haha oh god.. this is just terrible isn't it haha..

Any kind of sealer that can be used? I mean.. I can't see us being able to remove it really.. I had only painted a couple of sides of ramps when the guy mentioned it was unsuitable but since I have not been in today one of the lads has painted pretty much an entire walls worth of ramp!

Any suggestions other than taking the whole park to bits?

yeah youre right there burns really well on cars when you you weld near it

nope there is nothing as far as i know if you try to paint over it it becomes soft and bleeds straight through the top coat. youre up the creek without a paddle

if the ramps are made from wood and both sides are the same could you just swap left to right which will hide the stuff from view

I'm in bed now.. The skatepark is about ten miles away.. I'm tired..

I will pull my hair out tomorrow when I get there and realise the extent of my stupidity

I wonder if the cold weather will allow it to last the weekend without ruining anyone's clothes..

I paint the bottom couple of rows of brickwork below the rendering on our house every couple of years with the same stuff from a different maker and it dries enough for it not to be a problem and eventually flakes off so you need to do it again. I wouldn't worry about it being a problem on the sides of your ramp as long as it sets before anyone uses them.

We don't have many dogs ******* on stuff in the park.. but we do have a lot of children bleeding so maybe it will help to stop that happening? Probably will just make it happen more though lol
