Malware causing Internet explorer problems

As above really, is there any Malware about at the moment which causes:

Certain websites, Facebook, Google images search and a couple of others to load up the background and a few menu headers (that don't work) but no actual information on the page? Ebay gives me this warning: "If you are seeing this page, your browser settings prevent you from automatically redirecting to a new URL." when I try to sign in.

Tried downloading updated Java, refreshing, clearing internet history, altering compatibility view and shouting. Nothing seems to work. Other sites, such as this, seem unaffected.

Any ideas folks?

Try malwarebytes, its very good, and FREE.

I'd suggest switching to a better browser like Firefox, Chrome, Safari or Opera.

I've tried to help others with issues like these. Using a more popular browser that is better maintained and more standard has always been the best fix.

Spybot S&D is good and I recommend the MS Security Essentials as it is not a big overhead.

As soon as I try to download anything, the error, very bottom left of the screen comes up as: javascript:void (0)

How do I fix this?

Download it on another computer and put on flash stick, CD or copy over network.

DIsable or unistall Java, most sites don't use it anymore.

The message you mention is javascript, that is part of the browser itself, not java. The message shows on the status line of many browsers when you hold a mouse over a button as that is the function that the button executes.

BTW, which version of IE are you using?

loads of sites use Java Shenion, its flash that's on the way out, not java

uninstall java from the control panel, clear history, cookies and cache, then run malwarebytes and another removal tool as suggested above several times, with a couple of reboots along the way ( one go rarely gets everything)

and stop visiting all those dodgy sites

Java has been disabled on my browser for the last year. Each time I enable it, a security update usually disables it.

I have only seen a few sites that still need it.

That is a normal status message, not an error. You have something causing the download to not start and IE is too dumb to tell you that the download failed.

no m8 ,, even one persons rubbish can have a use ,, ie dont have any

go into control panel, internet options, advanced and try resetting internet explorer it may work

Just don't use IE. It is truly gash.
