Makita Jigsaw quality.

Hi guys,

So I’ve been buying a load of the Makita LXT 18v range. I’ve just bought a house so it’s my new project.
I buy what I need when I need. All has been going well so far, apart from the jigsaw I bought last week. It’s not the brushless one. But it still looked good, until receiving it. As soon as I touched the trigger the sharp plastic edges were scratching my fingers.
Does anyone else have this model and have experienced the same poor quality. I’ve got a few other tools with those same batteries and they’re all really good quality. It’s just this that is shocking!

Also half tempted to spent the £60 extra and just buy the brushless one. But not happy about this!

Send your photos to Makita - they'll probably send you a load of free tools....or a file!

No no, I bought them all from a decent tool shop. All from the same place. Spent a lot of money on the kits.

Id give Makita an email and see what happens.
Or pop back to your supplier with it.

Got a fair few makita 110v tools and never seen them looking like that

id complain that id cut my finger on first use of the trigger

the front edge looks like its been screwdrivered open

also my opinion complain direct to makita and inform on place where you bought it from

I sent a message to them via Makita UK on Facebook. See what happens. If nothing. I’ll go further. Spent nearly £1000 in last two weeks on tools with them.

looks a bit fake or it was a Friday afternoon job . I have Makita gear but it don't look like that be interesting to see what they say . let us know

It doesn’t surprise me. It’s the way a lot of it’s done now where expensive tools have parts made cheaper to decrease manufacturing costs and on the most part the quality control is decent but some bad eggs do slip through. Hopefully given the amount you’ve spent with them Kim they will just replace it

Looking at pictures on various tool sites it seems yours is not the only one with badly finished edges and they show it being used wearing gloves

The first picture has the same flashings around the trigger as yours.

I've got the same jigsaw about 6 months old and it's absolutely fine, no burrs

I would certainly get that exchanged/make a fuss - that''s unacceptable.

I've been looking at routers over the last day or so. I've always favoured Makita for my own tools. The Makita router i looked at yesterday was badly finished - I didn't notice any particular problems with the edges of the casings but they were very flexible and the tool had a really cheap feel to it. I'm quite sure I could have damaged or pressed in the casing with two thumbs if i had tried.
The flip side - I bought a Makita drill a fornight ago for work, and seemed a solid construction.

Trend or Dewalt for me I think.

That's poor.... I suspect a fake but everyone slips up occasionally

I used to always buy makitta, but the last drill and battery grinder are just not what they used to be, my gut feel is with makitta the brushless stuff is better made than the brushed, Ive gone red and very happy so far.

To be honest. Everything else of mine is really good quality. It’s just the saw.

I wouldn’t accept that. That’s a pile of junk, I have 20 year old tools that are better looking than that!
