I was looking for a 2 or 3 year old Disco 2 in the early 2000's, I got the Land rover dealers to put the ones I was interested in up on the ramp to see the underside. I must have looked at a dozen to find one that did not have significant surface rust on the chassis, I bought it and sprayed it with cavity wax and Dinitrol, it was still on the road when I last checked.

I bought a 3 year old D2 in 2006. It was immaculate. Had it 11 years and never needed welding although I did waxoil it fairly regularly.
