I need some new panels for the floor on my consul,am i right in thinking that to put the ribs in along the floor pan i need a bead roller? Or are there any other gadgets that can be used?
I saw some stag floor pans a bloke had made, they looked really good.
He tried rolling the beads and wasn't happy wit them. So he got a place with a plasma to cut out the ribs from a sheet of steel. I imagine the thickness of the sheet was the depth of the ribs. He screwed the ribs to a bit of similar thickness sheet. He used the bit of sheet with the holes and the bit with the ribs as press tools. He pressed them in his flypress.
I've seen pictures of an "old-boy" using hard-wood laths, on a metal bench, under the sheet as formers. He was beating around them, on the top side, with a cold chisel. Beautiful workmanship; he made it look easy. He was fast too. A proper coach-builder, from the old days, skilled in the old-ways.
