For molds I always found Chopped strand better than a weave, put approximately one layer at a time on, so you can keep track of how much your putting on, if you don't it's hard to keep it even and you end up with thick spots. I do put weave on molds, but as the last layer and it's mainly so I get a smooth outer, I used to vacuum in bin liners and the shrp bit of CS go thru the bin liner. If you use weave you can often see the pattern in the surface of the mold.
I used polyester for molds but always used epoxy for the laminate. But I used to buy glass that had been sized for epoxy, the stuff from glassplies didn't wet out very easily. epoxy is bundles stronger.
I used to spray the plug with spray polyester then polish it, I tried all types of paint and no matter how much wax went on I almost always got reactions, which doesn't happen with spray polyester.
I always left the mold and plug for the polyester to fully cure, maybe a few weeks.
Always make sure you have plenty of draft, getting things out of molds can be hard if you don't and banging on a mold can crack it. I have molds for various mudguards and they are nearly all three piece, makes getting the parts out much easier.
release agent. I used a TR hitemp relaese wax, I am told floor polish is just as good, the bloke in the local fibreglass distibutors gave the the can of the TR wax. My brother made some fibrglass glider fuselarges and he used PVA, but you could see the pattern of the PVA on the final laminate, it worked really well as a relaese agent though. I always put lots more coats of wax on than they say, recomended was 3 or so, I put maybe 20, rather do that than ruin a mold.
Found a couple of pics.

The plug was an original plastic part extended and the lip added. it was all done with body filler and sprayed with polyester spray. The guards come out of the mold with a fantastic surface. That was the first mold I made.
I think I shut the website down the pics were on, will have to have a look and see if they are online anywhere else. No idea if these are the original pics.
