Still pretty to new to concreting, and this time round I'm looking at making a small set of concrete steps.
So far the formwork is nearly finished, 6" risers with two treads of 10". I'm self mixing the concrete by hand, I'm wondering if I ought to use a wetter than dryer mix to ensure no voids in the aggregate which could show up in the vertical face of the steps.
From my experience so far I understand tamping, screeding and some trowelling. What I'm not so clear about is when to finish the faces of the steps.
Does the formwork need removing at the time of trowelling the horizontal treads to thus enable trowelling of the step faces?
Thanks
