Making Best Use of a Thermal Image Camera

Thanks, the Flir one I have definitely has a better picture than the Flunk! But work insists on this new one.

Interesting thread, would hate to see the heat evaporating from my home.

But undoubtedly a useful exercise.

If the kids closed the doors... That would help.

And yeah, finish insulating....

The FLIR One has a thermal resolution of 80 x 60 pixels, so lower than the Fluke PTi120, whilst the FLIR One Pro is equal at 160 x 120 pixels. Perhaps FLIR's image blending, using the visible image to increase the apparent sharpness of the thermal image, wins out. I did have the brief use of a very expensive 1024 x 786 pixels thermal imager, and saw something interesting fly overhead one evening, totally silently, and invisible to the naked eye. It was not a bird!!

Tell work that they really need to spend and get something better!!

I actually used my FLIR today. I wanted to spray paint a small but fairly solid casting, and as my garage is only about 14'C, I put the casting in a small oven and warmed it up to 40'C before spraying; worked out beautifully, 4 coats down with no runs . It's now back in the oven to harden it off.

I think the Flir I have is the pro version.
The Fluke is a £700 piece of kit, I really don't want to be carrying this around on sites but this is what they want!
