Making axle U-bolts

Just one of the leaves. The shortest one at the bottom only seems to do anything under max compression, or so it seems. Taking it out makes it all fit and I can leave it like that until I can find longer U-bolts.

the shortest spring will ease and distribute the weight on the second spring and so on. it may apear to do nothing but it will if theres a shock load exerted on it

Err sorry mate, its not ideal as it will put stress n the others and it will sag slightly.

Yes,it might make it sag slightly,possibly,depending on the leaf he removes.It wont sag a silly amount,it wont have a list as hes doing both springs.We've split springs for trailers to reduce the lb,so theyre not too hard on smallish trailers,and we've split landrover and truck springs and added leafs to make them harder and higher.I talk from my own experience.Edit*Far easier in the first place is to simply make or have made some U bolts.

Jones Springs have been e-mailed with the specs this morning. The only reason for taking out a leaf is so that I can roll it out of the workshop if necessary. Hard to push it when on axle stands (Well, chassis stands)

Jones Springs. Ordered them yesterday afternoon. Custom made and in the post this morning. £55:20 for a set of 4.

U-bolts have arrived. Looks like cut threads, not rolled. I thought that......

Anyway, I emailed and asked why they are not rolled threads. The answer is that they only roll threads when it is a bigger order.

EN16 grade steel not heat treated but more than capable of original torque settings.
