I’ve never been beaten by a stuck bolt, until today.
Three cap head screws well and truly rusted, 7/32” so no impact bits to hand.
started with Allen key and a tube, bent three old Allen keys.
then I thought I’d drill it out, 10mm drill perfect for the counterbored hole.
Nope, mega hard. Tried to pilot it with a small drill. Blunted that.
Thought I’ve got just the tool a 10mm solid carbide Guhring drill.
That’s trashed, chipped the cutting edges, few quids worth that was.
Get the oxyacetylene on it. Still won’t budge.
Right onto the bench tack a nut on.
4 wrung off nuts later using ER70S2 and ER312 I thought I’d burn it out.
Some patience and I have burnt the bolts out. But now I’ve made a bit of a fubar.
You can’t burn out stainless.
so onto the matter at hand. Was it 6013s you stick in a bucket of water to turn them into makeshift gouging rods?
@TechnicAl will no doubt know.
