Mahle oil filter OC99, which vehicles is it intended to fit?

On my GTC with the Ford 2.9i V6, the correct oil filter is an EFL90. As access is very tight I am sure that I have read somewhere that a Mahle OC99 is compatible but lower in hight, which would be ideal as I have one on the shelf. However I can't find a list of compatible vehicle fitments, only equivalent conversion tables. The filter does spin on and appears to seal OK, but I would like to see a listing for it against other similar Ford engines. I thought it might be Sierra 4x4 but that is a different filter.

Yes I saw Renault and Citroen on the adverts, but no Ford.

I do not know but in case it might be useful, my Mazda 6 2L, I use Mahle OC 1182 filters. Ford often use Mazda engines/designs.

Thank you, however this is a Ford Cologne which precedes Mazda collaboration.

The filter in the link above supercedes the OC99, it is listed as a replacement for an EFL293 and has an M20 thread.

I'm very confident the EFL90 is a 3/4" UNF thread.

I wouldn't mess with oil filters personally. They can't be that expensive can they?

I presume you are taking about spin on oil filters. So £10 each sort of thing? Not worth saving a couple of quid by fitting a potentially undersized or incompatible filter.

Nothing to do with saving money. In some Middlebridge and 2.9 conversions an EFL90 is too large for the space available. I thought I saw a club suggestion for the OC99 but can't find it now.

That makes it unusable then, thank you. It seemed to spin on nicely but not worth the risk.

My bad I thought it was a cost thing but re reading post #1 I see you said it was tight fitment.

Maybe ford forums are the best bet as people must know what filter works for whatever mod has been done.

It is a Middlebridge and not a Ford, hence checking the club forums. I now need to find a

Ford Motorcraft Oil Filter 2167938 / EFL90 tomorrow. That'l be fun! I have three in stock but can't locate them.​

I used to fit an EFL90 to my Lada, it was reccomended to me by someone that rallied them because it was larger than standard, you could have a look at Lada filters for the opposite reason.
