Magswitch clamps - a fabricator's best friend?

I know you can't just go buying everything that you like the look of if it's related to welding, but you do at least have use for things and although of course it has to pay for itself but then you yourself should see the gains from it.

Working out exactly how much time it saves you and therefor how much it'll save you might not be the easiest to work out, but in my position it's always the same, easy answer - it'll only cost me money!

Try pitching anything to this boss if it requires money to leave his pocket!

You wouldn't believe how hard it was just getting him to get medium sized oxy acet bottles for cutting and freeing off rusty metal on the farm! Hard to think how I ever managed without...

But it was hard even though I'd already researched the best supplier, at a good price, and already had the gear of my own to actually fit to the bottles (regs, flashbacks, hoses, torches etc) - it really couldn't have been any easier or better for him!

He's penny wise and pound foolish.

Like spending over 40k on a machine but not paying the slight extra for an uprated hydraulic pump that'll allow it to do the jobs it's bought for properly.
Spending 50-60k on a machine but saving perhaps a grand or maybe two by buying wrong tyres which aren't up to the work required of them!
He pretty much could have just bought a smaller machine with the right tyres for less money than he's spent as it'd grip just as well!

Buying a new bearing for a machine but not a new housing despite the old one not being able to pass grease into the bearing any more.
'It'll last a while though won't it?'.

I borrowed my old mans one, for building this garden table...fell 2 1/2 feet on the floor, switch stuck, pulled the cover plate off, magnets are held in place by plastic tubes that rotate when the switch is moved...one of them had broken..so plastic welded it back together using a blowtorch.....

mght get a stronghand...have seem them dropped from 5 feet plus multiple times without any problems...

Yep that's pretty much why I didn't buy multiples. There is nothing in the world someone cant make a bit worse and a bit cheaper

I find the mag clamps very useful, they might be expensive but you get what you pay for and for me they are a third and fourth hand

I've been doing skips for my dad for years the heat and beat is the best way to do them although I never thought magnetic clamps being any good might have to buy them better then having to use my uncle to hold stuff for me

yeah, I used to make new skips with lids years back. To make a full one was a heck of a lot of burn time. Had to paint them with red oxide also and when you were inside it was best to tack the lid in the open position as there were a few who thought it a right laugh to shut you in
