Our local canal has sprouted a sign saying "No magnet fishing by order of etc. etc.". Walked past it on our post Christmas walk with wife and daughter who commented......
"How can you fish with a magnet, fish aren't magnetic are they?" ........
wait until you get some bombs or amunition, and then have to call the bomd squad out.....that happened to someone I know in Sheffield
Leeds Liverpool passes close by to the "travellers" encampment in Blackburn (I'd use stronger language given the choice). I suspect there would be some "interesting" stuff in there.
Theres lots of stories about bombs in Sheffield....it was blitzed so there will be.......loads of stories about bonbs making their way into melting furnaces and them not having much effect due to the temperatures causing the shell to melt....must admit to some scepticism but fortunately I was the next generation.Unless you quietly chuck them back in when no one is looking.

There'll be nothing in them except stinky mud.
It's scary how easy it is to open the small "digital" safes.
I'm relying on my new metal detector to find a few pound coins and rings from the beach to fund my ongoing retirement..
I went fossil hunting a couple of years ago in ****** and found a gold "rotary" watch that I got £400 for. Only there an hour - and that was without a detector.
