Magma inverter Mig or Migatronic Rallymig 161

Hello,

Anyone here that have any experience whit a Mig welder called Magma Mig 200i?

The spec is in English the rest in Norwegian language.

Is the chinese machines worth buying or should i spend a bit more and go for the Migatronic Rallymig 161 ?

My Esab c141 has died so i need a replacement, i mostly weld bodywork and sheet metal.

Hi there, Kimk - and welcome to the Forum!

The welder you linked to, only goes down to a minimum of 50 Amps.
This is probably too high a setting for thin sheet or car bodywork thicknesses.

It's much easier to do with a minimum setting of around 30 Amps.

Might just spend a bit more and go for the Migatronic Rallymig.

It would be better - but now that you've mentioned Migatronic, the others just don't seem so good.
I don't know how good the after-sales is from Toolfarm, but the Migatronic is likely to be the better buy.

The Migatronic Rallymig 161 is also a "3 in one" machine, but I would expect it to perform better and last longer than the Magma.
This might seem biased towards the better known brand, but I would not then expect to be buying another within a good, long time-frame - so it would be my choice, despite the difference in cost.

if the quality is the same I would go for the migtronic , I have a old mx180 and its faultless and my mate who is a mechanic has a older rally model and its never let him down neither , just try and find a bit more feedback on the net for both machines

I have the Migatronic Automig 180 Mono ( probably more ancient) still going so another plus. Migatronic Don't seem to be advertising much these days, I found their after market Dept a bit unhelpful and ridiculously expensive for spares(Never bought anything off them)

Migatronic will be the better welder, you can even update the software using a memory stick.
Every setting is adjustable and then some.
Migatronic have been using this technology for a very long time and they can be trusted to
use good components and good engineers to develop their products.
Am not knocking the other products, its just that migatronic have been at this a long time,
they are known for dependability and the quality of the welding process will speak for its self.
I never used one, but have seen them in different industrial settings, and have seen what they
are capable of day in day out, I heard of one problem, caused by condensation, where after the
christmas holidays, a flash across a control card damaged it, when opened up, the card was soaking
wet, this was a long time ago too, but it was repaired and never happened again, I worked on
generators, and I know of 8 in a row at different substations doing the exact same, moisture again, and
it would not matter what company made these items, it was fluke weather that dealt the blow.
Less of course you want a welder built to military standards, or add a fan and moisture seal the stuff you have,
good luck though if you need a warranty repair.
