I think the only regular magazine related to welding is called The Welding World magazine which is produced by The AWD ( Association of Welding Distribution) it's produced 6 times per year.
The latest one came out yesterday, when I get my copy I'll scan the subscription form for you to look to but to be honest I think it's quite expensive for non members, its one of them where the price is artificially high to make the membership look more attractive (magazine is free to members) but I think it's only companies who can join at the moment
It depends what your expecting, it's more of a trade magazine, so lots of manufacturer adverts etc But as I said its the only welding related magazine in the UK
GYS and WWS advertise a lot as well. If you look on the website you can see the membership list.
When it was formed in the 70's it was more of a buying club exclusively for welding distributors, definitely no manufacturers or end users, but as the years have passed there are now a lot of manufacturers as members as they saw it as an opportunity to network with distributors and are the ones who advertise the most and I don't think it'll be too long before end users are also able to be members.
i get sent 'machinery market' which i get free for some reason, its welding/manufacturing/machining & supply chain based has some interesting features & inventions etc but more interesting than useful, incidentally it often dissproves the theory that 'uk doesn't make things anymore[should come free with the daily mail lol]. i end up often leaving them @ doctors waiting room, pity your not nearer you could have them.i don't know how you'd subscribe ,maybe its when you enquire about something & then forget to tick that 'withhold address ' box?
Its a wonder WHSmiths dont do several different magazines for welding, considering the wierd and wonderful subjects that they sell mags for in there. Trust me go and look..
ie:
Scottish Grocer.
Port Strategy
Practical Pigs
Air Medical rescue
Packaging today
World Pipelines
World tunneling and Trenchless world
British chess magazine
Irish Kitchens
Fireworks
Your Chickens
etc etc. These are all real magazines I assure you. I could have given hundreds more examples. With the possible exception of British chess, there can't be a big market for any of these magazines. (No wonder some of them are subscription only at approx £40 for 12 monthly editions! Some a LOT more. Such as Port Strategy £157 a year!!!))
Surely there is a gap in the market for a magazine for welders ?
