PS, I have at least 10 pillar drills, most are old brit makes with a few specials, one of them is Wadkin or similar if I remember.....

I like his Idea. I remember when I was young and had little money but a lot of time. I learned how to make something out of nothing, and perhaps he is in a similar situation. He rebuilt a junk press into a useful tool, and I can admire that.
