I'd heard their own experts found on investigation that it had stabilised the hill he was constructing it in![]()
Ahh, yes but was it his workshop that had de-stabilised the hill in the first place?

All of the above, some of it is subtle, some less so. Oh, and by the way, the dole office are sponsoring a campaign to recruit people for free SIA qualification courses, you can sign up on Facebook. Probably that's not Orwellian either, eh?Well my neighbours friends ex wife's stepson once sat next to Orwell on train so im obviously qualified to answer
I have to question those making the comparisons have ever actually read 1984 or indeed understand it
The whole world is at war (well maybe, but the people believe it is)
The inner party live in luxury while even normal party members are left (deliberately) short.
The Proles (an under class) are given more freedom as a way to control them as "freedom is slavery" is a way to control those not fully indoctrinated into the party way
There is open surveillance inside peoples homes
The party alters ALL history to suit its agenda
People are rounded up, tortured and executed for thinking about rising up against the party, people are encouraged to report friends, family, neighbours etc but no reward or protection is offered
The language is bring systematically altered as a way to limit free thought and speech
There are no elections, free or otherwise, the party is all powerful and Big Brother is not an actual person, just a symbol of authority
I could go on, but I would be very grateful if someone could give me an example of anything ive written happening in Britain today or indeed anything else from this work of fiction
I never got to meet Fred.
But often Talk with his 2 lads Jack & Rodger at steam rally's.
Both decent lads .
Hi Daughters are nice people as well .
It was horrible the way his gear was sold off .
Met up with Alf as well the bloke that accompanied him on the great tour .
With out doubt the world is a poorer place without the likes of Fred.

Whatever happened to his first Missus ? I did feel for her when he dragged her and the kids to Blackpool for what was supposed to be a family holiday, and she ended up labouring on a demolition job in the rain. Taking down a chimney at an engineering works or something like that.
The next Tuesday who bought his place made my blood boil the way he sold off everything, even old clothes.I never got to meet Fred.

At the original Cumbria Steam Gathering before it shifted out to Flookburgh?many years ago I can remember seeing them salom racing, now that like hard work.

Ronan, a bunch of twits you say, dont think they would be that good !!!.Councils ? Bunch of twits usually, either stupid or bent, occasionally both. Like the crowd here, decided to turn the town into a one way system and pedestrianised it too, made a complete town-halls of the place.

Similar round here, plenty of money for a new road layout on a main A road, with illuminated signs concreted in the pavements and new line painting all, to quote: "enable social distancing" so it says on the signs anyway, do we need to socially distance in carsOur council here, is spending its time putting up silly signs around the little parks and playing fields around the place. "Insect haven", "Wildlife preserve", all this nonsense. But early today, we had torrential rain for a few hours and every shore and drain in the roads are blocked with crud and haven't been cleaned in years. They used to have one of their lorries with like a big suction hose on it to clean them out.

However when we had heavy rain recently 3 schools, a pub and countless houses flooded badly costing probably hundreds of thousands in insurance repairs and increased premiums from now on
