Some people have asked before about Codings and Procedures etc.

I just gained some codings for our new Processes SpeedPulse and SpeedArc and I have just got the approvals back from Zurich.

For those who wondered what Marco Etch samples look like, here are a couple of pictures.

1st Picture is SpeedArc on Steel T-Fillet, 2nd Picture is SpeedPulse on Stainless T-Fillet.

Are the details of these process' on your website

More penetration than your average fillet weld there. Presumably you have to be quite accurate with torch angle to aim the penetration at the joint. What are the differences in technique from ordinary MIG?

Yes, there is a lot more penetration compared to standard Mig Pulse or Mig Spray arc.

Technique is exactly the same as normal. Its actually more forgiving that normal Spray or Pulse as the torch angle isn't so critical.

I am sure they won't mind surviving on bread and water for this year..........they would love a shiney new welding machine to look at more!!

That would be great, or if you think that these machines would benefit your production, I can arrange a demo up at your place so you can trial a machine on your shopfloor for a week or so.

Hi Gordon,

No, 230v Pulse migs yet. Only 230v Migs we do are standard mig, transformer based.

Hey Terry,

Hows things? SpeedPulse and SpeedArc are Hybrid arcs. Gives much more control and the arc energy is much more focused. Suprisingly easy to weld with, easier than conventional anyway.

Simerla in the sense that they are both modified Arcs, but STT is a modified dip transfer and as such is a 'cold' arc process. SpeedPulse and SpeedArc are more advantageuous when used on thicker sections, although SpeedPulse welds down to a low value of about 26 amps (about 0.6mm plate thickness) and SpeedArc, when in Dip transfer, can bridge gaps of about 15mm Verticle down, but that wasn't its intended use and is not quite as good as STT for rooting.

As you can see from the Test info, you can weld with much higher Wirefeed and Travel speeds too.

20 Meters a minute wire speed and still only 317 amps. On a conventional machine 20 meters/min would be impossible to control and would be well over 400 amps.

The travel speed was just under 50cm per minute, usual is about 30cm. So faster speeds with more penetration with less amps, so less distortion.

I'll keep you posted when I hear anymore about a 230v Pulse mig welder. Wont be until next year though I should imagine.
