machine vice

I have my meddings floor pillar drill now but do I go for a rdg 6" compound or an old but heavy job , its for drilling mostly car bits /farm bits
any recommendations

don't get the cheap ones they are ****e I binned mine an opted for the vice clamps from machine mart for ease

Same here thought was saving by going compound route ending up not using, too much hassle and giving it away 8 years ago.

Man cannot have enough vices'

They all have their place, all depends what your drilling. i have a 4 inch compound vice, vertx if memory serves me correctly, but id not use it all the time.

Man can run out of money and have to sell some vices to buy other equipment though :P

Just keep looking and a good quality vice will turn up, if you buy a good one it should last a life time and still be worth what you paid for it.
