Machine Mart No Vat Day

Just received another Vat free invite from Machine Mart.
7/1 and 10/1 - (for the Dundee shop)

I guess it's because the VAT goes up in a the new year so we'll save 17.5%.

It was also unexpected as the last one was only a couple of months ago.

Errr, no. If you don't pay the vat - you don't pay the vat. It doesn't matter how much it is, you just don't pay it. So it's not a bigger saving. If the item is £100 without vat, whatever the rate of vat - you still just pay £100.

But if i had to pay outwith the no vat day i would be paying 2.5% more next year on normal prices.

thus the saving is 17.5% on normal retail prices.

Actually you do pay VAT it's just that they are offering a discount equivalent to the vat.
From last years recipt the inc price on a "vat free" is the ex price on a normal day.

Bottom line is I'm paying less

Thats right, you still pay vat but they drop the price so it doesn't appear that way. SO, if you claim vat back then you're still saving as you can claim the vat you paid on it back.

You do need an invite but that will allow up to three 'guests'. Peterborough and Norwich are on the Wednesday 6th and Sunday 10th January.

go online and request a cataloge or just go the the shop. once you're on their mailing list they'll keep sending them.

Did anyone go tho the birmingham ones as if its definatly on i'll go get an engine crane on the 7th
i have had loads of stuff from there before but never get an invite

they now need the card to scan at the desk, it wasn't like that last time.
So no invite, no vat free.

And although it says you can take guests, you only get to use the card once, so i had to pay on my card and my friend had to pay me later for his tool chest

They sent me an invite but to the wrong store over 200 miles away, rang customer service and basically got told tough! charming
