Machine current settings

Having read the info regards current setting for Portamig’s and as suggested by a number of posts, I measured the open circuit volts readings at different switch settings. The readings are as follows
(The machine is a Portamig 215 Plus)

Please can someone help me understand the voltage readings in regards to output current.
And how I can use these setting for selecting the correct setting for wire size, metal thickness, wire speed.

What do you get when you measure a 12V battery? The figures look very high - I'd suspect the voltmeter.

It doesn't work on OCV. Miller has a calculator which suggests OCV, but the speeds and setups are more aimed at professional welders (hot and fast). Would check your figures before using that anyway - they do seem very high.

Thanks for the reply, the voltage readings were taken with a good quality meter (the readings are spot on). What would you expect the readings to be.

I don't know what the "PLUS" signifies, but here's some info about the standard 211:

Portamig 211: 14 - 24v
