Thank for the replies. I take it the cheaper liners people mention are the waffle type nonslip stuff?

As the box is a bit of a state, I am thinking of getting it blasted and powdercoated, but as its a 41" wide, 13 drawer roll cab, I will probably paint it 'cause of the cost! Do you think blasting this will warp/ripple it too much?

I done these with sand and they never warped

i was chatting about drawer liners a few posts ago and got some of mine stuck in, ive been laying stuff out all in the one place so things id be a bit quicker to find and of course it looks posh too.
bit of a way to go but this is all the BSW taps n dies done.
as for the liner,
2mm neoprene rubber cut to size, i must say im delighted with it, it has a softish feel to it and things stay put in the sections when the drawer is closed.
the drawers came with runners but dividers were short so i made up some out of 1.2 galv.
its dawning on me quite quick that cabinets like this can hold a world of gear.

Righto, finally got this box done. As bought....






Stripped of badges, strips and handles. Drawers all straightened and runners removed. D.A'd, rust treated and a coat of primer.



Then a few coats of 'toolbox red'.

Drawers painted.



Dismantled all the drawer runners. Cleaned, de-rusted, re-greased and 12 or so new balls. 26 of them! Put it back together.



Badges replaced, new Iroko top board.





My wife got some fluted rubber sheet from her workplace!



Really pleased how it's come out. Still a few dents, but I didn't worry too much. I don't think I will bother with the drawer trim. One thing, I was surpised just how cheap it is made. I know it may be a basic box, but the material is really thin and the runners are just Chiwanese. Now it's got weight in the drawers they roll nice.

Never mind, now to fill it up!

No, didnt find anything I liked!! Some trims were near but not close enough, still like some originals though.
