M7 left handed thread nut?

Hi all,

I am trying to help out a friend who is in search of the above item for a pedal on his mountain bike. He has looked everywhere (so he says) but cannot find one, he's asked bike shops and fastenings companies with no joy. He can buy a new spindle for the pedal but they are £30 and oddly enough the thread on the original spindle is fine, it is just the but he is after.

Can any of you good folk help out if you know of anywhere he hasn't looked?

you need to know the pitch but a m7 left tap will only cost a few £s and tap out an m6 to suit

try tracy tools they do all the taps and dies for bikes.

M7 is usually 1mm pitch. Tracy tools will make you a tap but you'd have to call and it would probably be more than a new spindle

I'd be inclined to turn the spindle down to M6 and fit a right hand thread nut with red threadlock, plus maybe stake the thread to prevent it coming undone. Other than that, it wouldn't be hard to make a 7mm LH but I'd want the spindle in my hand to get a nice fit.

I suggested getting an m6 but and running a tap through myself and he agreed to it if we can't find anything else. I've given him the website so will keep posting if he comes up stuck again.

I'd try putting an SOS out on a cycling forum, bet someone's got one lurking in their spares bin. Surprised the DMR v12 M7 nuts are sold out in so many shops (from two minutes of googling), must have discontinued a while ago.

find a decent bike shop and ask the half wit mechanic, not the boss.
I bet they would have one in a box of bits.
Which nut is he after? cant think of any that kind of size in pedals.

Gotta be the nut that holds the pedal onto the pedal shaft.
