But, back to the chase

At 9 minutes to 2am after being out for a few auto correct came into play

Tank of fuel

My td5 in standard and with 5alive tuning did less than my v8 for the same tank size and with less audible delight

It still averaged 28mpg, that was true average as I used to brim the tank and log the mileage everytime I went to a fuel station.

This would be a total mix of driving and I do like to use the loud pedal

Originally it had the map clamp to stop the ECU detecting over boost conditions until some bright spark worked out how to fit a 3 bar map sensor so it had that mod as well.

Well impressed with the performance, surprised a few peeps especially those in newer Disco's

Was yours an Auto, manual Td5's are noticeably better on juice

On paper the auto TD5 should have been a winner but they have the torque convertor lock set I think at 52mph or something like so in a A roads and especially with a trailer it can be like driving in 4th gear all the time and you can end up with high teens mpg which a V8 will achieve. It's an electronic box and they could have easily rectified it. The torque convertor needs to be changed to one one with a lower stall speed if you remapped.

I've got that on the Surf gearbox it locks into overdrive at bang on 50mph which is no good in a 50mph limit like the M3 roadworks that go on forever.....
Up and down the box tring to keep it in OD without speeding!

I had the 9 speed merc box in my amg

It was so silent and smooth you couldn’t tell it was changing gear
