Low amp arc stability ESAB Vs Kemppi. Which is best?

Hi I'm in the market for a new tig for welding thin stainless steel and inconel down to 0.5mm. I will also be doing some aluminium work too so an ACDC machine is required. I've narrowed my selection down to the ESAB 2200i TA24 or the Kemppi Mastertig MLS 2300 ACX.

My question is which machine has better low amp arc stability? They both have the same current range so I'm relying on someone's experience with these machines for any feedback on how they run at low amps. Also if the microtack function is all it's cracked up to be on the Kemppi unit?

I've the Kemppi. Never used the Microtak. I find setting the amps and using the button quick and easy. Used the set down to 3amps, arc was stable, and would be even more so using Multistrike tungsten. Welded all day at 15-30amps with out a thought.

Can't comment on the ESAB

Can't offer a comparison as i haven't used the latest models of either but personally speaking the ESAB wouldn't even be on my shortlist. I realise it's got nothing to do with the actual question but i wouldn't consider one solely due to them using CANBUS which means if you want to buy, say, a foot pedal you have (AFAIK) no choice but to bend over and pull your pants down

The esab is a terrible welder, used one every day for a few months.limited ac frequency and pulse settings, noisy as hell, useless in stick mode.
Junk imo, not comparable to the older brand.

Never used the kemppi, but never heard a bad word about it either

Also after looking at the price of the can-bus pedals I was rather shocked! I can't see the advantage either... Not like there's going to be the amounts of RF or EMF interference that would effect a normal pot signal!? Guess it's only to lock you into esab only pedals..

Welcome. Cooler as well? I'd replace the stif rubber lead cover for a soft woven cover, I have 8mtrs leads so only replaced the first 3mtr @£25ish

No cooler.. I very rarely do a lot of aluminium welding to the point where duty cycle will be an issue although a cooled torch would be nice. I may get one in the future. Thanks for the tip on the cover. I'll mainly be using a small wp9 (think it's that size) torch for exhaust manifolds and the supplied Kemppi torch for heavy stuff and aluminium welding so will be nice to have some easy flex in that torch.

Do you not find the long torch lead awkward? My Cebora has a 4-5m torch and I mainly use it on the bench so it's always coiled up underneath..
