Loupe glasses

I do a bit of fiddling about with small bits and pieces and my eyes are getting old and tired so I was thinking of getting a pair of these but looking at the reviews I probably won't bother.

Anyone got any suggestions for something similar that won't break the bank?

The magnifying light we got from Machine Mart is a much used tool in our house. I use it for fiddly soldering and my wife uses it for miniatures.

ive looked in to these and tried a fair few head loups . cheapos are crap the lenzes dont focus properly and vision distorted if u pay about 45 quid u can get a real good set il get the make for u as me bruv has a set

I've got one of these and to be quite honest, it's a bit crap!
It works to a degree but is a bit fiddly and the locking screws are rubbish.

I doubt it's much help as it's a magnifying glass without a stand, but I got an LED lit magnifying glass from a photography shop. They stocked them because they are optical products, but I used it to clean the sensor on my digital SLR.

At least you could go into one (or one of those old style chemists that still does photo stuff) - if one is of use, and actually pick it up and check it out yourself before buying!

I was shocked to see most apprentices can't read a dial vernier!

Oxford do a good headband thing with lenses on the front.

Currently waiting upon a referral, as my eye sight is constantly changing through the day.

Mine was till I was diagnosed diabetic with high blood peressure and put on meds ..it took jut over 12 weks for it to settle to a use full vision that was almost the same as i was four years ago . So there is hope for you yet .

Just to add to this, on the recommendation in another similar thread I ended up buying one of these and for the money it's great!
Not high quality but it does exactly what I want it to do.

This is mine an ancient Carl Zeiss-Germany, havent a clue on magnification. Does the job, but a light source would be handy.
I have one of those bench hands free things and it has a light --great for removing spelks. And a couple of them jewlers ones you stick in yer eye ball.
