Problems with 130 Autoplus Sip Mig Welder...
My Dad has had this welder for over 20 years and used it only a handful of times, now that I have found an interest in classic cars and their restoration I have dragged it out of the garage and started using it.
I use Hobby Weld 5 shielding gas, haven't put new wire in the welder still the same my dad used 20 years ago but have had it checked by a welder and he said it was fine to use. Original torch and have changed the earth cable to a new one.
The issues I am having with it are that I am getting some sort of burn back when I pull the trigger instead of welding the metal it burns back and welds the wire to the copper tip. It doesn't make that nice sound that I have been told to listen for its more a shhhh sound like its just the gas. I have welded fine with this welder in the past its just suddenly happened.
Another issue I am getting is that when I have welded, on any metal new or old once I have cleaned the weld down and tried to metal finish it there are lots of small pitting in the weld as though its not a strong weld and sometimes these turn into bigger holes with small pressure. I am not sure whether this is down to something to do with the welder or something I am doing wrong.
Any help anybody could give me would be much appreciated.. Would it be worth looking into new components for my welder or going down the route of getting a whole new welder.. I have uploaded a few photos.
Thanks in advance, Max
