loosing bits from a set

at work i have 4 sets of ball end allen keys .2 sets slide in to a plastic holder and 2 that fold out on a plastic holder. allways make sure there put back after use went to use the metric loose ones and one missing must have slipped out while takin to the van nowhere to be found .ordered one up of ebay 3 quid to make the set up again i hate it when something is missing . like sockets out of sets or dont match when u get a spare one

I had to replace my 1/4 drive 8mm socket from my Kamasa set when I broke the old one and the new one is different, no biggy but it still bugs me. It's usually 10mm or 13mm combination spanners with me.

One place I worked we tended to wear out, break or lose the 5mm key out of the sets, I asked the boss to order in a few 5mm keys to replace them, no, too much like hard work, he just bought a few complete new sets!.

i could have bought a new set but its not the point. i dont like loosing stuff even if i have loads of em

Nearly everything seems to be attached to the bodywork or engine accessories in modern American cars seems to be held on with 10mm headed bolts - not all M6. So a plea for 10mm sockets is not unknown on their forums For some, metric is still the unintelligible work of the devil . . .

I’m at that stage where my 9 year old is spending more and more time in the garage which is great but man he leaves stuff lying around. It’s a fine line between sucking it up and discouraging him from having a tinker.I’m sure my dad went through exactly the same pain.

I bought a socket set when I was in the states , Allen brand, same as the wrenches. I never opened it up while I was there so when I got back here I decided to break it out and use it. Went in for the 10mm and it wasn't there, the set contained 2 x11mm sockets, I was quite disappointed

I cracked a 19mm Britool socket, I was gutted!

Almost there with my AF spanners - most I’ve been buying one at a time. Your missing spanners are probably here

The thread chasers that are sold under various names incl SO are 11mm hex. I’ve never found a use for the 9s though.

Don’t be so tight , buy him his own starter tool kit !
