Loose tooth

At the risk of being all "me too" well, that happened to me too. Must have been about 6-8 I guess. Six fillings all at one time. Wasn't until years later I found out it was a scam. Is it too late for a class action suit I wonder...

It was a regular thing for me too. Usually one or two molars were filled at every visit. Consequently, years down the line, the tooth is so thin where it meets the gum, that pieces shear off and a repair becomes difficult, if not impossible.

I had a couple of horrendous dentists as a kid and was terrified of going. It was only when my current dentist took over the surgery that I had anaesthetic for the first time – the first two dentists would just hold you down when the pain kicked in. Don't mind going these days, though, I know I'll be well numbed!

Nothing as awful as my Dad's experience. He had all of his teeth removed when he was 16 and has worn dentures ever since!

I used to sleep with a lady dentist between wifes, last time I spoke to her was to ask for advice about toothache while offshore. Yes there were times when seeing a dentist was scary, but I dont ever remember her putting a knee on my chest!

There was no way I was going to a dentist in Angola. Twas she who told me about the hot salty water aiding gum infections.

I was an over-zealous brusher to the point where I eroded my gums enough to lose teeth virtually by the handful. Eventually, when I was down to the last 8 teeth in my head, my dentist did me the big favour of removing what was left and setting me up for a set of these (not mine in the pic!) . . .

Since then, nothing but pain free eating.

We were all taught to brush side-to-side, I'm sure. Whereas the correct way is up-and-down. I've a few caries on the gum line from my earlier days due to poor a brushing technique.

I went to a dentist about 10 years ago.
I had been in agony for several years and it had just ramped up to agony++.
I had four teeth with big holes in them and was expecting to go in and have the four pulled.
But she really dragged it out.
The first appointment was to have a gander and tell me to come back in two weeks when we would plan my course or treatment!
It was nhs with a 30 quid or so price cap on treatment, so she wasn;t earning by dragging it out.
Took about 10 visits to pull 4 teeth.

I had always chewed cloves and kept a tub of cloves in my pocket.
After she had mentioned infection I realised if it's infection causing the pain
penicillin should be good. I found some ampicillin and necked a few caps, the toothache went.

Ive had 3 teeth removed in adult life, first one took 3 dentists 2 hours due to complications, after it they said in future I'd probably need the hospital and to be knocked out, couple of years later back at the dentist and the young female dentist wanted to pull a tooth, I explained to her my previous experience so she agreed to numb it up, have a quick look and any issues i'd get referred to hospital, she poked about for a couple of minutes and said it would need to be the hospital, she went to get a second dentist to have a look, he was an arrogant prick who you could tell was determined to show up the first dentist, he basically snapped my tooth in half leaving bits poking out the gum and said there was no more he could do and I got referred to hospital, if I hadnt of been so sore I would have removed some of his teeth with my fist, third tooth was uneventful.

I've got an appointment this week!
Bad molars that need the fillings redone. I distrust dentists as I feel I've been ripped off all my life, always feel I've been done over!
One took 2 teeth out when i was a kid so he could fit a brace I told them I didn't want, I still have huge gaps now.
They don't like doing NHS work as it doesn't pay as much as private.

For balance I should admit to having found a really good dentist (two actually) so they are out there and not all trips are destined to become like "Marathon man".
