Looking for the year please

Hi

Ive just grabbed this no3 record vice off marketplace free of charge .. works fine and the chap said it was his fathers and its older than him ‍ .. any info on the year plesse I have read that the rounded knobs on the tightening bar is the earlier type ? I assume the pics I have enclosed is the rounded knob end .. I was going to get a new repair kit spring washer and cotter pins and sand blast it and paint it ? Or shall I leave the original paint on it ‍ thanks

I think the rounded knobs are a lot more... well round than that to be honest

I wouldn't say its seriously old judging by the sticker

It's the pommel that the handle slides through that was rounder on the older ones. Yours is the newer style.

Been a good while since I've looked at any vice literature, but seem to recall the 70's being the general period where the rounded knob was changed over to straight style.

@CwazyWabbit is the chap who can likely give a more indepth & accurate guess.

The only thing I might replace would be the jaws, but they don't look to bad, pictures would help....
