looking for reccomended steering rack refurbish seller

focus needs a fresh rack , im aware some refurbishment places do little more than wipe down a used part and paint it black

ive no problem paying for a refurbished one if it really has been taken apart and inspected /parts replaced

can anyone reccomend a decent place that does good quality work , i dont want to do the job twice

I used a mob called the steering specialists through ebay for my fiesta rack. Been on about 2 years now.

I was very happy with the service and the product. 18 month warranty.

Is it one with the electronic steering pump?

just a normal pas rack....dont trust the local places or ecp as far as i can spit , would rather a trusted place that does good work

Surely they're not actually doing the refurb'ing, but merely as sending them off the somewhere which does the actual work?

or selling whatever rubbish they can lay thier hands on cheapest for biggest profit

motor factors around here just sell same stuff as chaepest dregs on ebay but dearer , i can order my own rubbish if i want it

mostley, unless there's a big oil leak or accidental damage (damaged 1's are not exchangable) they last a long while........all I seem to replace is the inner ball joints which has the adjustment rod.....of cource track rod ends....
I use "misterauto" these inner joint run at about 15-25 squids each.......easy to fit, often no need to remove the rack and the rack boot's are cheap as well.......
every time I've looked at an exchange they were over £200....plus removal time and then the post.....so why not repair/replace the fittings.......
My Vw has done 100,000miles on new inner joints and just passed the MOT again.....Frank

I would only recommend an OE manufacturer like TRW, ZF etc. Shaftec & Other aftermarket options I would avoid. Nothing worse than doing a job twice.

quite right but here in France u can only buy new racks from the dealer.......recon's take to long to get from the UK cos they don't keep left hookers in stock........
been doing this all my life never a failure yet and any chance of that they get new or used supplied by the customer........
