there must be something out there on a production car that your could bolt the strut to a have some way to bolt a steering arm

I wonder if you could make up a adapter to slip inside the BMW hub and be held in with the pinch bolt and a ear type mounting on the other end to bolt your strut too.

Might struggle with caster coz the strut centre is usually through the hole ?
With the ren clio sport hub carrier you might be able to use it upside down make an adapter to bolt to the top where the top pivot joint goes then bolt the strut through that also use the bottom (was top) ball joint then to mount the TCA /wishbone as normal
machine off the steering arm flat then fabricate new ackerman to bolt to the flat section to suit bump steer/ rack mount.
They use brembo calipers as standard and massive discs .

I'm thinking Norm (dangerous) wouldn't the caster be between the bottom ball joint and the top mount, irrespective of where the strut is, my heads hurting now. By the way that BMW hub has two lower ball joints so puts the lower pivot point out in space, quite cleaver.

Yes as per the line through the first pic of the clio sus, but the strut might end up being too far in towards the innerwing because of the fact the hole is already on the center line of the strut, then you need to move it even further in for the bolt on mount .
my brain hurts too with the BM swivelly wishbone variable caster camber at least with one ball joint you have an idea where you are!!

I have a sport in bits at the moment swapping struts coz they break the strut threaded end at the top mount!!! poss because of the brake effort ??
standard brake set up !!

PS if you need any measurement off this clio it is going back today
PS my other thought when looking at the clio carrier was the ackermans could be bolted to back of wheel bearing bolts ie make double ended bolt /studs then you would have choice of low or high setting depending on rack poss.

Much cheaper than I would have thought, someone should knock up some mounts for an Escort and sell them as a package they'd make a killing.

Yep when you think one monte AP caliper is £700 ish and then there is the disc and bell
