Looking for an un-activated LEGAL copy of WIN7 Pro 32 bit

A odd one this: For years I've run several Window 7 Pro 32 bit machines at home - all were ex-corporate XP HP / Compac machines that I loaded Win 7 Pro 32 bit from original Microsoft disks that I believe to be genuine. (they certainly cost a lot!)

As Microsoft started to drop Win 7 and pushed for upgrades to Win 10 several 'security upgrades' came out that seem to have resulted in many people getting 'you may be the victim of illegal software' messages, and a black background.

Now I need my 'Workshop' machine to run Win7 pro 32 bit as it runs several bits of legacy software that won't run on Win10

I dug an older system out of storage (again Win7 pro / 32 bit) and turned off automatic updates and it's been running fine for a few months but is painfully slow.

So on one of the affected machines (HP DC7600 SFF) I deleted the partitions and started again with my original Microsoft DVDs but none of them will activate.

So I'm looking for an un-activated LEGAL copy of WIN7 Pro 32 bit to have a fresh start, or does anyone happen to have an HP DC7600 SFF at least dual core 2.8 already running a legal copy of Win7 Pro 32 bit that they'd like to sell.

I find this immensely irritating to have (years ago) paid good money for something Microsoft have deemed now outdated and so far I've wasted HOURS trying to solve this issue. Microsoft don't want to know of course - . . . .not a supported product !!!

I think the black screen and message is maybe if it’s not connected to the internet?

My old work laptop has started doing it, and that certainly had a proper registered copy of win7 - when we had new Win 10 laptops I asked to keep it as it’s useful for some older software we have and was told I could as long as it’s never connected to the internet.

So WiFi has been turned off and in the last couple of months it’s started with the black screen and counterfeit messages.

I feel your pain as i am also limping along with 7(all legit) on both my laptops and my tower...Running Firefox seems to act like a crutch for 7 and chuggs along happily for my needs..having said that i have just had to buy a legit office 365 as it stopped supporting my poor mans copy

BTW Dalyed it's not anything to do with it loosing internet connectivity - it's always had it.

BUT I have machines running Win7 pro / 32 driving my Laser cutter (automatic upgrades disabled but internet connectivity maintained) and my CNC Plasma cutter (Internet and updates disabled but local network enabled) and guess what - they HAVEN'T suffered.

could you ghost the hard drive ,,, an exact copy from a running machine , and that would get you going ,,, just a thought

Yes I know what you are saying. We have machines that run win7 that have never been connected to the internet (they run scada systems on chemical plants, power stations etc) and they’ve never had the message.

my work laptop was obviously connected to internet until recently so I assume it’s a “recent“ update that has embedded something to cause the pop up and warning.

Could you create a VM of the machines that don’t have the warning and run them in a win 10 box? I don’t use my old laptop much but the warning iirc pops up once when I start it and then goes away, though I only have it out for an occasional quick look at something.

A new install of win7 will not activate on line so you will not be able to get the updates on line, even rebuilding a damaged install is a mammoth task involving going and getting your own updates. We have around seventy win7 media players that need swapping out for android boxes when things get going again, slight problem is that only a third or them are in the UK, the rest are in France, Belgium and Holland so I have no idea how or when we are going to do that.

Im talking software for old radios that expects a hardware serial port and some photo related stuff that cries if you have more than 2mb of video ram...

I found it worth the effort to get it running on modern hardware rather than running an out of date operating system (says the person who paid, actual real money, for Vista 64 bit)

Made the leap in January

I would have done it sooner but windows 8 was still fresh in my memory.

I have a copy of windows 7 32/64 here.

I didn't Upgrade it to windows 10 so it should still be good

I've used it on 3 gaming rigs and a laptop over the years

If it's still where I left it it's yours if you want it

I think I've a copy somewhere with licence number. But, as already said, it's no longer a supported OS, so why the worry?

Microsoft licencing allowed loading one license number on up to three machines unless is was a corporate 'take you on trust' number. So if a particular number has been activated on three machine the activation server blocks the number and gives you and appropriate message.

Using a Win7 emulator in Wi10 doesn't work due to the handling of real serial and parallel ports which the legacy software needs to 'see' - usb ones aren't good enough

@quackers Tell me a bit more - how does that work? As yes I have two legal copies who's numbers no longer work.

its a volume licence kms activator. read the thread, download the .7z file (win rar, 7zip ect will extract it) read the readme and run it (i usually add the folder its downloaded to the exceptions in the antivirus software youre using).

its a backdoor type activator thats totally legal to use, as long as you own a valid licence.

These things work a treat! Just run it before you download any updates. Mind you that may not be an issue anymore with W7!

I might be able to find a licence number too. Deffo got a 64bit one and possibly 32bit one as well. Let me know...
