Looking for a thread...children's ride on Landrover

I have been searching in vain...there was a thread on here..last week I think of a ride on land rover project. Can anyone remind the bake out point me in the right direction please...apologies if I have missed something obvious.TIA....Mike

I realise I'm bumping an old thread here but I'm looking at building one of these for my nephew so if you still have them I'd very much be interested.

I can pop a few photos of one I bought from a mate up, it's based on a mobility scooter chassis and not to any scale, the welding is vile! But the kids love it and it works and I'm far to lazy to do anything about it until it brakes

+1 for basing on an old, lowered mobility scooter. You have speed control, brakes, lights etc already done.

I picked my two up off Gumtree etc. They'll be for any grandchildren as I never really finished the one in the video above & my own kids are nigh on driving for real!

I've seen kids driving around the Landrover shows in them and they have them at Diggerland and they are cool but I amazed how many people can justify the price of a ready built one, the 5 Series vehicles we have owe us in total less than a Toylander

18 years ago when I got the plans, the parts weren't cheap to buy from them! I came up with my own "gearbox" etc, & sourced my own motors & wheels.

This is as far as it got. Upgraded to bigger wheels:

Steering wheel from a climbing frame place. "Direct on line" accelerator! Depress it with a full charge and it would throw the boy back in his (supermarket trolley) seat! Switches for 12V downlighters for headlights (I'd do LED now):



Two surplus motors wired for 24V and a homemade gearbox. Belt drive 1st stage then chains. Never got round to chain tensioners:

I built my own design based on a 1913 Ransomes electric lorry mobility scooter running gear done miles on it will try to find a pic it's a flat bed so we have had 5 kids and me on it comfortably does 5 miles on a charge
