Afraid if it's an engineering company, I don't agree he was a jobsworth. My first full time engineering job was with a small family owned company - all personal measuring gear along those lines was checked against our standard, and given a suitably colour coded sticker to show it had been checked - I can't remember the frequency of checks - a few times a year.We had a jobsworth at one place that wanted all the rules & tape measures calibrated before we could measure anything job related, we got round the problem by using these stickers
It didn't mean they were all accurate, but they were all precise.
It meant if I measured something, designed something to fit, someone else made it - it fitted. As I can prove with several tapes I own, none of them agree, and can be pretty different in short distance.

We only used them to measure bits of steel etc. for brackets to hold shelves, sensors etc., anything to do with the welding fixtures we would use the calibrated stuff from metrology.
A good example of the jobsworth was when we wanted to weld a bracket inside a welding that has welding going on pretty much 24/7, he wanted us to obtain a hot works permit, we just waited until after 5pm when he went home so there was no-one to issue a permit

The two main ones that I use are by Rabone, and Fisco.
The Fisco one seems a bit clearer to read.
Glad that I managed to get a Starrett small-rule holder though, as that thing is proper handy for twiddly little jobs......

Apart from the size of the "Stainless Steel" font they could be twins, same factory different name on the packet...?
Last time I ordered this style of rule, I ordered 10 just to increase the chance of finding one when needed...

They are very close in appearance.
When I decide which one of the options I prefer most, I will definitely be ordering a few more, to make sure I have plenty.
