I have a friend up here who flies RC planes with turbine engines, although I am not sure where he flies. We were talking the other day and he was speaking about heading out to Banchory fliers I think.

Ah I see, yes from what I've watched the pulse jet is a noisy little thing!

Really noisy and really fast!
Took a lot of space to fly them I don't know how the pilot could see them in the distance.
We were racing RC cars there and getting very very drunk on Saturday night, good times.
No tent just a bit of tarp strung across two cars.

I remember doing a couple of W & W shows there in the '90s. My mate had a concours Land Rover 80" showing and his dad had a stall selling Hornby trains and cars, etc . There was some 'superstar' Italian lad brought over to run pulse jets. I can still recall his name as the tannoy drummed it into me over the weekend, Euseppi Gardenelli! (Probably spelt wrong!)
I can remember his name but can't remember my own sometimes!

North Weald was one of the few sites that allowed them, I used to go there for the annual scale model show, some very impressive models were flown there (1/4 scale Catalina, Lancaster, B-25 etc) as well as plenty of gas turbines, it was always a good show.

I remember the pulse jets actually being faster than some of the real plane's!
It was the early 90's when we were there.
Then there was the Steve Miller band playing, the boat pool that might have had someone fail in...
Driving my mates 2.8 Capri with no licence, ******, up and down the runway, staggering round the perimeter road looking fo an off licence, getting very sunburned.
Nobody batted an eyelid.
All stuff not allowed these days as "its bad for your elf".
