Long Reach T3 & T4 screwdriver

New to these forums.

I thought I had every type of screwdriver/bits I would ever need, apparently not.

I'm trying to source long reach T3 & T4 screw drivers at least 150mm long not including the handle.

It's not bits I'm after or bit handle sets but long thin screw drivers.

I didn't think it would be so hard, I can't find any.

Any links/ advise would be appreciated.

I doubt you'll find that off the shelf, I'd probably cut a normal T4 driver in half and braze an extension piece in.

What would you have in mind, the T4s I have looked at are to thick, you may be right and have no other option but to braze in an extension piece.

I need to get inside a battery case to undo 4 x screws, has to be long and thin to get access to them.

Sealey brand, Ideal length, ideal thinness but require T3 and T4.

I’ve asked a friend about this, he says draper do extra long precision screwdriver sets. No idea if they do T3 or T4s though

Draper, tool of last resort, shouldn't knock them, couple of their tools have got me out of a tight spot in the past.

They do long but not T3 and T4.

Have a look at CPC Farnell part# TL15229. (I can't access the prduce page - CPC Farnell have deemed me to be not worthy of visiting their website!!). It's a T4 driver blade for a torque driver. The blade is 175mm long, with a plastic sleeve that should be easy enough to hack off. It should be possble to fashion some sort of handle for it. There isn't a T3 in that range.

I cant see anything long this small
I struggled my self recently for a longer but not oolong No1 PH, plenty standard and long but nothing in the middle, managed in the end with a bit driver but this would be too wide for most applications.

As you see, TX3 is 1.17mm and TX4 is 1.28mm.

Something roughly 2mm diameter and 150mm long has a length/diameter ratio of 75. You will start twisting it at the top on Monday and the screw at the bottom might see that torque on Tuesday afternoon.

You would be wise to check the actual diameter of the Wera (CPC) one above.

Knew I had a picture! Here's some 18" long, 3mm (iirc) Allen keys I made.


The tip is half an allen key and the head is a bit of hex (they're used with a torque wrench), induction brazed to a silver steel shaft.

For the torque you'll put through a T3 head, I'd drill each end of some suitably sized steel (4mm OD?) and glue a cut in half screwdriver into each end with Loctite 638.

Thanks, I did and they had one T4 in stock at the time of looking.

I do use CPC occasionally so need to get a small shopping list together to make it a worth while order, still need a long T3.

I can get away with a 3mm shaft, 2mm would be better.

Nice, unfortunately I don't have skill set, yet, to make such things.

One of the reasons I joined these forums was I want to get in to welding, buying a rig, I need to, that's for another thread.
