Logo on steel

Is there an easy way to get a permanant logo onto steel?

I was thinking of somekind of stamp you could whack into the steel something like these stamps but how would i get one with my own logo/name on?

What are you tying to achieve? Sure its possible to get something made up, but likely to be expensive.

What finish will be on the steel?

Laser cut (through the steel) or laser etch (will probably only last/show if its unpainted stainless etc) can both look good, but might be completely unsuitable for your intended use.

hmm, didnt want expensive.

Its just to mark the bottom of my sculptures so when i give them to people they can see i made it.

I suppose the stamp would need to be milled from hardened steel.

A quick google threw out this... http://www.infinitystamps.com/steel_stamps.html. Paint typically at least partially obscures stamped marks

A sandblasted logo can work well, as with laser etching probably only last/show up well on stainless.

Another way would be to tack/solder/bond your logo on, example here

I knew an Inspector who wanted a unique stamp so he got two of the standard punch stamps welded together and slightly altered them with an angle grinder and a slitting disc.
Maybe one of those dremel things would do it better these days.
I guess you could weld 3 pr more together of the small ones and use a big hammer

I have my grandfathers stamp, he used to stamp on his tools (Reading ) that was his name ! very small so must have had it made somewhere

How about riveting on a punched nameplate design
could look quite smart

I used to work in rubber injection moulding ,as the tools were hardened they were marked using an electric arc engraver,much easier than stamps,can sign a signature a lot easier than with a rotary tool ....struggled to find a reasonable priced version.....check this link....engraver
