I've had the log splitter for about 10 years, I usually use a mate's tractor to drive it. However I bought a Bobcat about 3 or 4 years ago, and managed to blag a 3 point linkage adapter, made by White for not much money. I've used the plate before, it has a tow hitch on it so ideal for moving trailers around in the yard. However this is the first time I have got around to try and use the 3 point linkage part of it with the splitter . I think there is a bit of a mismatch of 3 point category.
Here's me offering it up for the first time. Yes, I know I have put the clamping arms down on the plate, straight after this it was back on the bucket, this was purely for measurement, not lifting.
The plate appears to have cat 4 lift arm and top pin, both being around the 50mm mark. The splitter's top pin is 25mm, and so are the lift arm pins, so sort of cat 2 ish.
The hitch on the plate looks like it will move up to meet the height of the splitter, seems like its been pre-drilled but the top holes are 130mm above the current holes, which are at 165mm centres so will need to drill a couple more. 130mm with a 50mm bush will just above sort it.
I need to give that ball hitch a bit of TLC.
And the distance between pins is about 32" so cat 2 on both
If moving the plate up works, I guess all I need to do is put bushes on the lift arm pins to brink it up to cat 4 size and get a top pin, possibly a bush depending how it lines up with the hitch. Probably need a mechanism to make sur it can't jump out if the clips on the lift arms don't do it.. Or I could just ditch the top pin plate and get a very short top link, whatever I do I shall make sure it can't break free.
I've bought some new hoses to match the different couplings on the Bobcat. If I get chance between moving manure and work I'll get them on tomorrow too.
Cheers
Andy
